Invited yesterday Sunday on the Telefoot set, the former boss of Olympique de Marseille, Pape Diouf assured that he would not seek the presidency of the African Football Confederation whose elections will take place in 2021, by handing over a layer on President Ahmad Ahmad.
Pope Diouf does not mince words when it comes to CAF President Ahmad Ahmad. Asked about the possibility of replacing the latter at the head of the Pan-African football body, the Franco-Senegalese said: ” Candidate ? Ah no, not at all, so here I am looking absolutely for no place within the institution, “before I castigate the current leaders. “I simply regret that since his departure, Issa Hayatou (president of CAF from 1988 to 2017) has not been replaced. Maybe he was open to criticism, but at least he had the character of a job, which is not the case today (….) I regret that as an African and I am not the alone…”.
The former president of Olympique de Marseille added that he thinks that the dates of the next African Cup of Nations have not been changed for meteorological reasons but especially for the pressure from FIFA which will organize the Mondialito in June-July.
