Originally expected at the end of the year, the next generation of the Ford Mustang will finally be unveiled sometime in 2022.

We thought it was coming soon, we will have to take some more patience. We’re talking about the next generation of the Ford Mustang, whose revelation was originally scheduled by the end of the year. The pony-car, whose current generation has been present in the catalog since 2015, seems to have finally seen its renewal postponed, as suggested by an announcement posted by the manufacturer on the professional social network LinkedIn, relayed by Mustang6G.com. The brand is looking for an engineer specializing in the study of air and rolling noises in order to work on the next generation of the best-selling sports car in the world. The announcement also gives the internal code name of this new version, namely S650, raising the last possible doubts, especially since it is clarified that it is indeed the ” Ford 2023 Mustang “. The text therefore specifies that the lucky winner will be based at the factory in Flat Rocks, in Michigan, where the pony car is assembled. It should first continue its career in its current form for a few more years, when it is rumored that a version Mach 1 would be scheduled for next year, while a hybrid version will be in the pipeline for the coming months. Suffice to say that the career of this sixth generation is far from over. With more than 72,489 copies sold in the past year in more than 140 markets, the American sports car continues to appeal despite the slight drop in overall sales recorded last year.

An electrified V8?

For the moment, no technical information has yet been revealed on the next generation of the Ford Mustang, which will undoubtedly use electrification to reduce emissions and better meet increasingly stringent environmental standards. The V8 should logically be kept, but nothing is less certain about the EcoBoost, which has already disappeared from the French catalog, the eight-cylinder being widely acclaimed by customers. For the moment, we do not yet know what type of hybridization is planned for the pony-car, which could perhaps be satisfied with a mild hybrid 48 volts, just enough to look good without losing your temper. Anyway, its arrival in Europe has not yet been confirmed, let’s hope that the legislation does not end up being right for the mythical pony-car … Discover our latest articles on the Ford Mustang:
