Confined in Bavaria due to the coronavirus, Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich launched this Friday a fund to fight the epidemic. The two German internationals from Bayern Munich even offered a million euros for a good cause.
The coronavirus epidemic continues to spread worldwide and germany has been particularly affected in recent days. Bavaria even took containment measures on Friday.
Deprived of Bundesliga, at least until April 2, Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich launched a program to help fight the coronavirus. The two German internationals from Bayern Munich have donated one million euros to the fund “WeKickCorona.com”, newly created to try to stop the spread of Covid-19.
“Our duty to take responsibility”
In a video posted on social networks, the two Munich residents call on their fellow citizens and people around the world to do the same.
“We professional footballers live a healthy and privileged life. In these difficult times, we feel it is our duty to take responsibility, said Goretzka and Kimmich before clarifying. We are aware that our commitment is only a small contribution. “
The two men are also involved in the initiative launched by the German national team, which announced Wednesday the donation of two and a half million euros for aid in the fight against the virus.
