There is a lot of information about the Disney + launch, Disney’s streaming platform, which will offer customers more than 500 films and 100 series, from Marvel at Pixar Passing by Star Wars and National Geographic.
In recent days, we have learned that Disney + recruited testers for a dream job which consists of verifying the proper functioning of the platform on the launch day, next March 24. Except that finally, Disney + will not be available in France on this date.
This March 21, Disney + Twitter account announced the postponement of the launch of its platform to Tuesday April 7, 2020, at the request of the government.
Why such a postponement? In this period of confinement linked to the coronavirus, telework exploded, homework on the net also, not to mention the French men and women who want to have fun and who flock to Netflix, Youtube and social networks. Activity up 30 to 50% on networks operators, who were worried about the arrival of Disney +, which could have threatened the current good functioning of the internet in France, creating an imbalance and an overload.
Last Friday, Stephane Richard, the CEO of Orange, explained to the Figaro :
It is obvious, when you look at the landscape, that the launch of Disney + is a matter of concern. We do not want to prevent our compatriots from having fun, but we have to measure the risk we take.
Following the government’s request and after having refused it for a long time, Disney + has finally delayed its launch until April 7. So fans will have to be patient…
