The president of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, has proposed this Wednesday that the next meeting of the dialogue table between the central and Catalan governments, which should be held this March, is held by videoconference if due to the coronavirus It is not possible to do it in person. This is what the president at a press conference in Palau with the Interior Minister, Miquel Buch, and the head of Health, Alba Verges, after leading the meeting of the Technical Committee of the Civil Protection Plan of Catalonia (Procicat) on behalf of the coronavirus.
“This country has discovered that many things can be done through videoconferencing,” Torra has ironized in reference to the situation generated by the coronavirus, so he has indicated that his “intention” is that the meeting can be held even by telematic means . He has argued that it is “important” to follow the meetings between executives and has finished: “For us it will not be.”
Asked about the date on which it will take place, the head of the Catalan executive has pointed out that it should be carried out before the start of the electoral campaigns in Euskadi and Galicia, for which he has indicated as an indicative date at most 18 or 19 of March.
Following the resignation as Foreign Minister of Alfred Bosch for the case of sexual harassment of a collaborator in his department, Torra has said that between the two government partners the next composition of the Catalan delegation must be decided, in which Bosch has so far participated.
Asked if he will participate in the conference of regional presidents by videoconference convened for this Saturday by the Head of Government, Pedro Sanchez, Torra has affirmed that “he will value it”, because he has admitted that he wants “Know all the decisions that can be made in all places”. Thus, everything indicates that he could make an exception for the coronavirus crisis and participate in a multilateral forum of regional presidents he has always been suspicious of, since it requires a bilateral relationship with the State.
