Saxony-Anhalt has long been the last German state in which there has not yet been a confirmed Corona case. The situation changed this Tuesday. Also Saxony-Anhalt is no longer free of corona. Sars-CoV-2 has been detected in a man from Halle. But why did it take so long?
“We too will have a real case at some point,” a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Integration – which also includes the Department of Health and Consumer Protection – predicted on Monday to the RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland (RND).
“It’s lucky that we haven’t been affected so far. And if you look at the map, there are really few cases around Saxony-Anhalt, ”added the spokeswoman.
Allegation rejected: “We test quite normally”
The accusation in federal states with a low number of confirmed or none at all Corona infections If not enough tests are carried out, she vigorously rejected: “We test normally – like others. The State Office for Consumer Protection, private laboratories and universities have probably already examined 1500 tests. ”
In all worst cases to date, it was – until Tuesday – in the worst case that it was real influenza. This also applies to a group that returned from a ski area at the end of last week. Some participants had shown symptoms, the spokeswoman said. They had the flu.
Coronavirus: Many factors decide
From the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Integration and Consumer Protection in Brandenburg – there are currently six confirmed cases there – meanwhile, with a view to the still low spread in the country: “How a virus spreads depends on a variety of factors. Sometimes it is also a coincidence and it is enough for an infected person or a small group to trigger a major infection. ”
The situation in North Rhine-Westphalia is an example of this. The state with the most inhabitants is currently the most severely affected by the corona virus. In addition to the number of inhabitants, this is also due to the fact that NRW has “an excellent infrastructure”, which is characterized by large urban centers, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health told the RND.
“In addition, North Rhine-Westphalias infrastructure is very well connected both nationally and internationally,” he added. It can therefore be expected that there will be more confirmed cases. (RND)
