It started with stomach and breathing problems. The 23-year-old Junior Zambia was therefore hospitalized by HSC Montpellier on Tuesday. The first test on Corona was still negative, but the midfielder’s health deteriorated significantly.

A second test on Friday finally gave a positive result. The 23-year-old is the first player in French Ligue 1 with a positive corona test.

As reported, among other things, “L’Equipe”, Zambia had to be intubated in the intensive care unit and put into an artificial coma. His advisor Frederic Guerra told the newspaper “Le Parisien”: “His condition is stable. It has neither deteriorated nor improved. It’s really tough. ”

Zambia’s teammate Andy Delort posted a team photo on Twitter and wrote, among other things: “We are a family. Stay strong!”

Ligue 1 should play again from mid-June

In the meantime there are also efforts in France to start the league again. Those responsible hope for a resumption in mid-June, as the league association LFP announced. A prerequisite for this, however, is the relaxation of the current restrictions by the authorities.

The plan is to have the players train again in their clubs from May 11th under strong medical supervision. About four weeks later, the league should be able to start without an audience.
