Last night a 61-year-old prisoner who suffered from a serious previous pathology died of the coronavirus at the Gregorio Marañón Hospital in Madrid. There are already five people in the prison environment who have lost their lives, sources from Penitentiary Institutions have reported.

This is José Manuel A.A., an inmate of the Madrid VII-Estremera Penitentiary Center, who had been admitted to the ICU of that hospital since April 2.

He is the second deceased from the Estremera Center due to Covid-19, and so number five people from the prison who have lost their lives to this virus. The other three are workers in the centers of Alicante, Soria and Cuenca.

According to the information provided by Penitentiary Institutions, there are 290 positive cases registered between workers (240) and inmates (50), of which 50 workers have recovered and 11 inmates have been discharged from hospital.
