Chancellor Merkel speaks at a switching conference with the Prime Ministers of the federal states about easing the restrictions.

The German press agency learned this on Wednesday after a switching conference between the chancellery and the heads of state chancellor of the federal states on Tuesday. A key point paper with corresponding recommendations should be adopted today in the discussions between Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the members of the Corona Cabinet. First, the “Bild” newspaper reported on the results of the switching conference.

Merkel wanted to prepare a federal proposal for a resolution in the Corona Cabinet, which would be discussed and probably changed in the afternoon at the Chancellor’s video conference with the Prime Minister, it said. At the same time, it was emphasized from a federal perspective that a coordinated approach was important in the event of gradual openings in the school area.

From country circles it was said that when the heads of state chancellery were contacted by Chancellor-in-Office Helge Braun (CDU), the reason was shown how to gradually bring about easing.

For the time being, however, it should remain strictly restricted, as in most neighboring countries around Germany. Everything else is a risk. Also in discussion was a mandate to the Conference of Ministers of Education to develop a framework for the gradual opening of schools and universities. The safety concept should be in the foreground here.
