Unemployment also fell in Cantabria in year-on-year terms, -9.62%, in this case the second largest decline by communities after the Basque Country (-10.8%), equivalent to 3,200 fewer people on the unemployment lists that had in the first quarter of 2019.

In Spain, unemployment rose by 121,000 people in the first quarter of the year, which is 3.8% more than in the previous quarter, and employment decreased by 285,600 jobs (-1.4%), thus accusing part of the impact of the health crisis and the declaration of the state of alarm from mid-March. In both cases it is the worst unemployment and employment records since 2013.
