As a power ingredient for glowing, clean skin and in the field of health and wellness against menstrual cramps, headaches or tension, CBD is no longer new. Cannabidiol is now being used as a new beauty trend in hair care and is said to help in shampoo for healthy hair and scalp and against hair loss.
Stop hair loss: This is how CBD affects our body
Hair loss is a problem that almost every woman has to deal with at least once in the course of her life. Because even without skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis or the genetic circular hair loss, the hair can fall out more. Stress, a hormonal imbalance or a one-sided diet can lead to this. If health-related causes that trigger hair loss can be ruled out, the search begins: what to apply to the scalp in the future and what not? Because the ingredients of many conventional shampoos (but also of natural cosmetics) such as fragrances, surfactants such as lauryl sulfates or essential oils can irritate the scalp in the long term and promote hair loss due to an imbalance in the scalp.
Research on cannabidiols in beauty and health is still in its infancy. However, it already seems to be a promising substance for our cells. The CBD contained in the products leads to a biological process in which our so-called endocanabinoid system reacts. It is part of our nervous system that contains cannabinoid receptors, because cannabinoids also develop in our body itself. These substances then migrate to the places in the body where they are located, where receptors are located. This process of “docking” triggers processes that promote cell renewal and cell metabolism – which is why it is believed that externally added cannabinoids such as CBD can have such a positive effect.
Why CBD in shampoo is so promising for hair loss
This is where the new trend of CBD shampoos comes in: Because cannabidiol is an anti-inflammatory substance in our body, this effect can also be used for healthy hair and scalp. When used in shampoo, CBD has a soothing, moisturizing effect. It can reduce itching and irritation, which helps the scalp to regain its balance. With regular use, this is also noticeable in hair growth. Because when our scalp is healthy and balanced, it enables healthy hair growth, strong hair roots and fuller hair. At the same time, CBD has an antioxidant effect in hair and skin care and protects against harmful environmental influences that lead to premature aging and cell damage. Because CBD gently clarifies the scalp and hair in shampoo, symptoms such as dandruff caused by scalp problems should also be reduced.
The fact that cannabidiol is also used in hair care products has so far been a rather new trend. Therefore, the selection of suitable shampoos based on CBD is still relatively manageable. Promising products include shampoo and conditioner from the American clean beauty brand R + Co, which recently launched their new “Super Garden” line with CBD. Unfortunately, the brand has so far only delivered within the USA, but in this country the hair care products are available from Net-A-Porter, among others – and hopefully soon the new CBD products, too cruelty free are without parabens, silicones and sulfates and come in recycled packaging.
Another hair care product with CBD is already available in Germany: Emera shampoo is also enriched with cannabidiol and is intended to strengthen the scalp with regular use of additional plant extracts, at the same time protecting it from harmful environmental influences and gently and thoroughly cleaning the hair. The vegan cosmetic brands Nectar and Beauty Orgazm also offer shampoos that contain a percentage of CBD.
Anyone who has not yet found what they are looking for with the currently available shampoos with CBD can easily create a nourishing product themselves. All you need is a CBD oil, of which you add a few drops to your preferred shampoo. Alternatively, cannabidiol is also suitable as a hair treatment for the acute treatment of hair loss or scalp problems: Then, before washing your hair, apply a few drops of the oil to the affected areas, leave it on for a few minutes and then wash it off with shampoo.
