A body has been found in the high-rise complex in Grevenbroich, which was sealed off after corona falls. On Monday afternoon, the police said that a dead person had been found in the apartment of a 58-year-old, who has not been seen for a long time, on request. The officials assumed that the dead person was the resident of the apartment. The investigation into the cause of death was still ongoing.
According to the “picture“Newspaper received an emergency call. Neighbors were obviously worried about the man who didn’t respond behind his door. Rescue workers went into the apartment and found the dead. It was not initially known whether the man was infected with the corona virus.
Because two families infected with the coronavirus had not adhered to the ordered quarantine, the health department in Grevenbroich sealed off the high-rise complex with 117 apartments. As a precaution, all 450 residents should be tested for the virus on Sunday – a large number followed the call. After testing 377 residents, results are expected this Tuesday.
The area around the three connected houses is fenced. Four security guards in the city located between Düsseldorf and Mönchengladbach take care that no people come to the site of the building complex and that nobody leaves it. The residents should only be allowed to leave the property again if the tests prove in a few days that they have not been infected by their neighbors.
Residents transferred by telephone
The mass test was initiated by eight residents from two families who were found to be infected with the corona virus. The health authorities have therefore ordered domestic quarantine, said Benjamin Josephs from Rhein-Kreis Neuss on Sunday.
But during the telephone checks by the officials, it became clear that the family members were not keeping the quarantine.
Adults and children continued to have contact with neighbors, including staying in front of the complex. It is unclear whether the other residents even knew that the families were actually in quarantine and there was a high risk of infection.
The city and district health authorities therefore decided to carry out the mass corona test. 115 employees from the Health Department and the Red Cross worked on Sunday. They set up three tents in a parking lot in front of the building. Then some employees went from apartment to apartment. “We then ask the residents if they want to take a test,” said Josephs.
There was a similar case recently in Hagen (NRW)where an entire residential complex had to be guarded by the police. Families there had repeatedly violated an exit ban after several people were quarantined.
