On Saturday evening, a dispute about the safety margin at a hardware store cash register escalated. The cashier of a DIY store in Frechen informed a 51-year-old man and his 23-year-old son from Pulheim that the distance requirements had not been met due to the coronavirus pandemic. Because their request remained without consequences, the shop detective and security staff were brought in.

The situation then escalated, leading to a physical conflict involving six people. The police had to be called. One person was slightly injured.

The officials filed criminal charges for dangerous bodily harm. The two Pulheim residents received an additional order from the police.
