Nadia Calvino, Minister of Economy

The third vice-president and minister of Economic Affairs and for the Digital Transformation, Nadia Calvino, affirmed this Wednesday, about the non-suspension of the collection of taxes such as personal income tax, that Spain needs those revenues because public expenses, such as the salaries of health and State Security Forces and Corps, “do not disappear.”

“This situation is exceptional but that does not mean that we do not need income … We cannot abandon the normal functioning of the public sector,” Calvino insisted in statements to Onda Cero collected by Europa Press.

Regarding the demands of the business world for the paid leave for the cessation of non-essential activity to be paid by the State, Calvino has indicated that, although he understands the claim, the State, the public sector, cannot replace the economy as a whole ”
