The private airline VistaJet is making its aircraft available to help tackle the coronavirus pandemic. This means that medical equipment can be transported or people can be flown home from abroad. VistaJet was founded in 2004 by Thomas Flohr. In addition to his entrepreneurial activities, the Swiss is also a racing driver.
Flohr is currently driving an AF-Corse-Ferrari 488 GTE Evo in the GTE-Am class in the World Endurance Championship WEC. He shares the cockpit with ex-Formula 1 racing drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Francesco Castellacci. In 2018, the trio took second place in the GTE-Am class at the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Now Flohr wants to help in the COVID 19 crisis. VistaJet is one of the largest private airlines based in Malta. “We have the option of more than 115 aircraft for this initiative,” Flohr told the BBC. “We continue to support our customers on their travels, but we saw that the opportunity to help excited our team.”

Usually VistaJet only works with private customers. This includes, for example, the Formula 1 team Ferrari.
In order to be able to operate flights, VistaJet must also implement new regulations in order not to endanger the health of the crew and passengers. “We own all of our 115 aircraft and the infrastructure. We control the entire process. We have everything in hand. We implement the security measures.”
Flohr sees the fact that the company has the complete process in hand as an advantage: “We usually do not offer return flights or transport flights for medical equipment, but ultimately we are a logistics company. We want to help the global community as best we can. We are located us in a common struggle. ”
