The government of Andalusia going to ask the central executive for the possibility of open the beaches to the bathroom in phase 2, what would be the 15 th of May, and not in the third phase, which would be from June 8, taking into account the favorable evolution of the coronavirus pandemic in the Andalusian community, as well as exempt beach bars from the payment of the fee in 2020.

This has been indicated by the counselor of the Presidency, Public Administration and Interior and spokesman for the Andalusian Government, Elías Bendodo, at a press conference after the meeting of the Governing Council, together with the advisers for the Treasury, Industry and Energy, Juan Bravo, and Health and Families, Jesus Aguirre.

After pointing out the importance of the tourism sector in Andalusia, where it represents 12% of the regional GDP and 13% of employment, Bendodo has indicated that this opening of the beaches would be carried out with all security measures, such as keeping the distance of two meters, establishing access points to control the capacity, indicating entry and exit routes whenever possible, screening the sand every morning, with opening and closing times and removing the mattresses for collective use in hammocks preferring personal towels.

As for the canon of the beach bars in 2020, Bendodo has indicated that releasing this payment would mean “a saving of ten million euros”, and they will also demand that the Government extend for one more year the concession of these beach bars.

Similarly, it has insisted on the request of lower, until the end of the year, VAT in the tourism sector to 4% compared to the current 10% with the aim of giving liquidity to companies. “This provisional descent can be very helpful for tourism companies,” he said.
