An old man who lived in the Geriatric Apart Incas in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Belgrano died this Friday, with what there are six victims of that assistance center, while there are 21 older adults from that establishment still hospitalized, reported the lawyer representing the families of the victims.
“The old man who passed away this afternoon is Carlos Frías, 88 years old and there are still 21 people interned in different health centers and 10 administrative employees, all with Covid-19, “lawyer Ignacio Trimarco told Télam.
The elderly were evacuated last April 22 from the Geriatric Apart Incas, after a complaint by employees with Covid-19.
Prosecutor Maximiliano Vence ordered the evacuation and then arranged a raid on the clinic to remove admission and discharge books to the facility, medical records, and other evidence.
The prosecutor charged for “abandonment of person followed by death” and “spread of a disease” to the owner of the nursing home and another doctor, while investigating the failure of public official duties to members of the Buenos Aires government.
Trimarco pointed out that other nursing homes of the same owner are also being investigated since it is presumed that there were administrative employees who rotated in one and the other headquarters and that no protection protocol was followed towards the elderly.
