Consumer goods producer Henkel, manufacturer of the Persil detergent, Loctite and hair products Schwarzkopf, has reduced sales by only 0.8% in the first quarter, to 4,927 million euros, despite the coronavirus pandemic .

Henkel, who only published turnover figures today, said that sales of cleaning products have grown strongly by 5.3%, while sales of adhesives fell by 4.3% due to the stoppage of many industries such as automotive, and beauty and body care products fell 2.6% due to the closure of hairdressing salons.

“We are in a very challenging situation. The COVID-19 pandemic has reached all areas of life and greatly affected the global economy,” said Henkel President Carsten Knobel.

Henkel publishes more figures from its balance sheet in the first half and in the annual balance sheet, but only the turnover in the quarterly ones.
