The United Kingdom imposes a 14-day quarantine on all persons entering the country from June 8. A measure that will not make exceptions between nationalities, as previously reported by Prime Minister Boris Johnson with the case of French travelers.

The Secretary of State for the Interior Ministry, Priti Patel, assured that the decision tries to avoid a spike in infections due to possible imported cases during the summer.

“Now that we have passed the peak of this virus, we must take steps to prevent imported cases from causing a resurgence of this deadly disease. And as the transmission rate in the UK declines and the number of travelers arriving in the country will begin to increase, imported cases could represent a great threat, “said the British official who also indicated that skipping the quarantine will have economic sanctions.
