In the last 24 hours, Health has registered 59 deaths from coronaviruses. It is the second day since the start of the State of Alarm in which the deceased drop below 100 after the 82 registered yesterday. However, COVID-19 has already left 27,709 deaths across the country since the pandemic began.

Contagions also experience a sharp decline today. They are 285 – yesterday they were 421 – although among other causes the drop may respond to some delay in the weekend notifications, as the Ministry of Health usually warns on Mondays. In total, there are 231,706 infections that Spain has confirmed by PCR.

The Ministry of Health today released the data for the first time in the afternoon because the formula for collecting daily data has changed. Cases occurred during a calendar day (from 00:00 to 24:00) have been counted instead of until 21:00 the previous day. This change also produces the schedule for the daily appearance of the technical spokesperson for the de-escalation, Fernando Simón, which also happens in the afternoon.

The entire world already registers more than 4.7 million cases of COVID-19 with the United States at the forefront, with nearly 1.5 million cases. Russia, the United Kingdom and Brazil are already ahead of Spain in the number of reported infections. This disease has already caused 315,496 official deaths worldwide, almost 90,000 in the US.
