While Clint Eastwood – sacred cinema monster, western legend and multi-Oscar winner – celebrates its 90th anniversary today, looking back at 5 anecdotes that have marked his life and his career with our special episode of Give Me Five. The scene takes place in October 1951. Clint Eastwood passes his military service and the plane in which he is – a bomber of the Second World War – flies over the Pacific Ocean, off San Francisco. This is where the accident occurs: communications are cut, oxygen too, and the device is running out of fuel.
The pilot of the plane therefore has no choice and must attempt an emergency landing on the ocean, in icy water and … infested with sharks (as well as Clint Eastwood will learn it a few years later). Fortunately, the sharks did not visit him that day, and his lifeguard diploma allowed him to regain the edge after two or three hours of breaststroke.
