The President of Mercadona, Juan Roig, will multiply your contribution in the Business Accelerator Shuttle until the 10 million euros annual -in the year 2019 was about two million- with the aim of “activating the entrepreneurial ecosystem and being able to support more entrepreneurs”. In this way, it is intended to increase the number of startups who receive support from this initiative, which is now 150, to reach 200 this year and 300 in 2021.

This was announced by the CEO of Lanzadera, Javier Jiménez, at a press conference from the Marina de Empresas in Valencia, where he stressed the importance of this day, because it means, after seven years of activity, present “a new Shuttle”. “Juan Roig has decided that we must double the bet to better support entrepreneurs in the Valencian Community and from this country. This is not the time to stop, but to accelerate, “he asserted.

The 10 million euros that Roig will contribute from this year add to the other concept incomes that the accelerator receives, so that in 2020 the total budget will exceed 16 million. Asked if the Mercadona owner’s bet is circumstantial, to face the Covid-19 crisis, or a definitive leapOr, Jiménez has stressed that the facts “speak for themselves” and recalled that the contributions have been increasing.

Among the advanced innovations, the incorporation of two new phases into the Shuttle program stands out: ‘Start’, aimed at people who want to look for new opportunities, as well as projects in early stages; and ‘Scale’, focused on companies that have been growing on a large scale and need new goals, close an investment round or internationalize.

Other changes will be the opening of the Shuttle ecosystem to new investors -large corporations, technology partners etc.- with the desire to promote in Valencia a ‘entrepreneurship hub “reference”; the maximum of the loans granted goes from 200,000 to 500,000 euros; A grant of 4,000 euros -1,000 a month is created for the first steps of business initiatives and entrepreneurs from outside the Community will be given the opportunity to follow part of the online training program.
