The Sûreté du Québec arrested Jean-François Malo in Joliette on Friday morning in connection with attempted murder occurred in Mont-Saint-Hilaire on March 26 against lawyer Nicholas Daudelin.
The operation led by the Major Crimes Investigation Service took place in collaboration with the Financial Crime Investigation Division, specifies the SQ.
The case dates back to March, when an armed man fired a gun at the lawyer.
Presenting himself outside his home, a man asked him if he was Mr. Daudelin.
The lawyer then asked him to leave his property before another man appeared, a gun in his hand.
He fired, but Mr. Daudelin had the reflex to dive to the ground, which probably saved his life. However, he was injured in the leg.
The shooter and his accomplice fled.
The lawyer represents major clients, including financial institutions.
For more than a year, Nicholas Daudelin has been leading a major case in a real estate fraud case.
