The ministry led by Salvador Illa has registered 52 killed by coronavirus in the last week, while this Wednesday this figure was 30 deaths. Health continues without updating the total deaths since June 7, at which time it set the amount of deceased at 27,136. It has been 12 days without the number changing despite the fact that new deaths are added to the weekly count.
The director of the Center for Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies (CCAES), Fernando Simón, has been insisting for days that the non-updating of the total deaths is due to the fact that the communities are validating some data and specifying their dates. Also for some dates, the doctor has assured on several occasions that in the “next few days” the real number of deaths would be resumed -attention to the description of a confirmed case used by the ministry-. Simón has repeatedly pointed out that the total number of deceased will be around 28,000. “It is likely that we will have them in the next few days and when I say next days I mean … already”, said the expert when asked if they will have the total figures before tribute to the victims of July 16.
