The health authorities of Mexico notified this Wednesday 4,930 new infections and 770 deaths for him coronavirus bringing the country accumulates 159,793 infections and 19,080 deaths since the start of the pandemic last February.
The infections reported this day represent the second highest number in a day after the 5,222 cases that the country’s Health authorities reported on June 12.
José Luis Alomía, director of Epidemiology of the Mexican government, explained that the accumulated cases had a daily increase of 3.2% compared to the 154,863 that were held the previous day.
He also specified that these cases reported on the day are infections that “are distributed in the last twelve days, which are the days when they started with symptoms of the disease,” but his report was received on this day.
The death toll went from 18,310 to 19,080 when adding the 770 deaths of the day, which represent 4.1% growth. The highest number of deaths in a day was 1,092 and was reported on June 3.
Alomía confirmed that the health authorities have a report of 1,846 suspicious deaths, which should be confirmed with the laboratory results that are in progress.
The suspected cases reported on this day amount to 59,076, which are awaiting the results of their coronavirus tests. The authorities calculate the positivity rate of these patients at just over 30%.
Mexico City and the State of Mexico are the country’s entities that accumulate the highest burden of infections and deaths since the start of the pandemic last February.
The country began the new normal stage on June 1 and this week, 16 states are classified as somewhat at risk and another 16 as medium risk according to the epidemiological traffic light used by health authorities for the development of activities.
