“I will try to find a new club. ”
A sentence that Sven Ulreich talks to SPORT1 couldn’t have put it more honestly, should be of great interest in the Bundesliga.
Due to the summer change from Alexander Nübel to Munich, Ulreich plans to depart. His big goal: to be number one in a new club instead of the three at FC Bayern.
The fact is that a number of Bundesliga clubs and those who could become look around the goalkeeper market. Ulreich, at 31 in the best football age, would probably not get any obstacles from the Bayern despite the contract running until 2021. A possible transfer should be below the 10 million euro mark.
Ulreich’s name already fell on Schalke
But which club is looking for and would be interesting for Ulreich?
Nübel will leave Schalke 04 in a few weeks, Markus Schubert was again demoted to number two. Ralf Fährmann (loaned to Norway club SK Brann) is coming back and is currently training with the S04 due to the Corona crisis – but whether he has what it takes to be number one again?
To SPORT1-Information, the name Ulreich has already been mentioned in the royal blue, and Schalke would also be interesting for him in sports.
However, he would have to expect a drop in salary in Gelsenkirchen. It is also questionable whether the clammy Schalke can pay a transfer. From a sporting point of view, Ulreich would at any rate fit the traditional club from the Ruhr area.
It was important to the captain that the decision was only made after the league restart. In addition, the further cooperation with his long-time goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic was decisive
Previously, showpiece Bayer and veteran Thomas Müller had extended his contract until 2023
Head coach Hansi Flick stays just as long. He had signed his new working paper just a few days ago. It was not just Müller who had recently blossomed under him
Before tackling the issue of new signings, the Munich team want to do their homework with the other players whose contracts expire next year

Stuttgart and HSV in the raffle?
At VfB Stuttgart, Hoffenheim loan Gregor Kobel is guarding the gate. The 22-year-old only wants to go back to TSG if he can become number one there, which should be contrary to Oliver Baumann’s plans.
The Stuttgart residents would like to keep Kobel, but would have to shell out up to five million euros for a transfer. Ulreich has a past in Stuttgart and can also imagine a return in the event of an ascent. For this, however, the transfer of Kobel would have to fail. A veteran like Ulreich could certainly help the Stuttgart team in the Bundesliga.
Another option for Ulreich is Union Berlin, where goalkeeper Rafal Gikiewicz will leave at the end of the season. The Köpenicker are currently fighting for relegation. Hertha BSC can also become a serious option. Rune Jarstein has been number one there for five years, but it is no longer without controversy. His advisor Jürgen Schwab has already felt at the capital’s club.
At FC Augsburg too, momentum could come between the posts, because Tomas Koubek, the fourth most expensive Bundesliga keeper, has disappointed so far and is only number two behind Andreas Luthe.
Even Hamburger SV could get involved in poker for Ulreich if a new goalkeeper should be hired in the event of promotion. Julian Pollersbeck was last there again after more than a year.
It is also possible to remain in Munich
Ulreich, father of two and happily married, would like to stay in Germany, but is also open to moving abroad.
“Everything is imaginable. Especially in the current situation, you don’t know what will happen,” says Ulreich when asked about his future. “But if nothing suitable arises, it is possible that I will fulfill my contract in Munich. In this I will hang myself fully in order to remain number two.”
To SPORT1– His consultant is sounding out information on the market, but no concrete talks are yet being held with potential customers.
In goalkeeper poker, not only Ulreich is waiting for the first falling domino.
