Sunday evening, the firefighters and the cantonal police intervened for a fire in the basements of a building in Belfaux. A baby has been hospitalized.
Sunday, around 5:30 p.m., the intervention of the firefighters and the cantonal police was requested for a fire which broke out in the bicycle room of a building, at the route de Lossy, in Belfaux.
On site, the fire brigades of the CR of Friborg and the Corps of firefighters of Sarine-Nord were able to contain the fire and ventilate the premises of the building.
As the disaster was quickly brought under control, only part of the residents were evacuated, while the other remained confined to their apartments. Eight people affected by smoke were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for a check-up. A baby a few months old was hospitalized.
At the end of the rescue intervention, the inhabitants were able to return to their homes.
For the purposes of the intervention, the Lossy road was closed to traffic for 2 hours. The damage was not assessed. An investigation was opened to establish the cause of the fire.
