Donald Trump’s younger brother Robert Trump had failed at the last minute to request injunctions to stop publication against the author and Simon & Schuster from a New York court. Judge Hal Greenwald refused to issue such orders on Monday.

Numerous US media had previously reported from the book in which Mary Trump insinuated the US President to be a narcissist. Donald Trump fulfills all the criteria for this, writes Mary Trump. In the book, she compares her uncle to a three-year-old who knows that he has never been loved. The title of the 240-page book is in German: “Too much and never enough – How my family created the most dangerous man in the world”. The Heyne-Verlag launched the work in Germany on August 31.

The publisher’s description states that Mary Trump draws a “portrait of Donald J. Trump and the toxic family” that made him what he is today: a man “who is now health, economic security and the social fabric of the world is threatened ». Mary Trump is the daughter of Donald Trump’s eldest brother Fred, who died in 1981.

Robert Trump had justified the lawsuit against his niece with the fact that Mary Trump’s book violated a confidentiality agreement. This was concluded in connection with her grandfather’s estate regulation – i.e. the father of the president. President Trump has described the planned publication as illegal, referring to the confidentiality agreement.

Judge Greenwald now found that only the financial aspect of the estate regulation was confidential. The judge also argued that prohibiting publication would serve no purpose. The book had already been delivered in large numbers. In addition, constitutional law takes precedence over contracts, in particular the right to freedom of speech from the First Amendment.
