++ Coronavirus: Gb, ‘go-ahead for local lockdowns’ ++

(ANSA) – ROME, JULY 17 – Local authorities in the United Kingdom will have the option from tomorrow to launch lockdowns and adopt restrictive measures in their areas of competence, this will allow them to “act faster” where necessary to intervene on the spread of coronavirus. This was announced by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

“They will have the power to close specific public places and cancel events,” Johnson said, adding however that such interventions may not be enough and for this reason further central government tools to act locally will be announced next week. (HANDLE).
