After the call for screening launched on Saturday by the Montreal Department of Public Health (DRSP) to people who have frequented bars recently, the number of screenings increased, as did the proportion of positive tests.
Thus, 3000 tests were carried out during the last weekend and the rate of positive results reached 3%, rather than the rates of 0.5% and 1% observed in the last weeks.
Not all cases are linked to bars, however, said Dr. David Kaiser of the DRSP. At the moment, the authorities do not judge the results worrying, but if the situation persists, it may be necessary to impose other measures such as compulsory registers in bars.
Other details will follow.
