China: new peak in contamination since April
China recorded 105 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday, the highest daily rate since April, according to city officials. Almost all of them were transmitted locally, 102.
The National Health Commission said 96 cases were in Xinjiang province, where the outbreak of an epidemic earlier this month continues despite hopes expressed by authorities that it will slow down.
Five new cases have also been recorded in Liaoning province, linked to an epidemic at a seafood factory. Dalian city has been contained and hundreds of flights have been canceled.
Despite these efforts, cases linked to this cluster have been detected in no less than nine other cities. Finally, a case was registered in Beijing on Thursday.
