A teacher at Beckenried’s school is the subject of an assault investigation against students.
Beckenried’s (NW) school has filed a criminal complaint against a teacher for assaulting students. This person should be placed on leave until the investigation is completed. It must first be heard.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office of the canton of Nidwalden must now determine whether there has been any behavior under criminal law, the municipal authorities said on Tuesday. The municipality had already launched an independent external investigation in order to have an expert examine all the allegations in connection with incidents reported at the Beckenried school.
The relationship of trust with the person is compromised, according to the president of the school committee and member of the municipal executive Rolf Amstad. The municipal executive plans to put her on leave until the conclusion of the investigation. It must first be heard by the authorities. She disputes the charges. The presumption of innocence prevails.
The school board launched an internal investigation after accusations of assault were made during a meeting with parents of students. The first complaints were made last December.
The school is also criticized for not taking the charges against this member of the teaching profession seriously. This is why external expertise has been commissioned.
According to several media reports, a teacher is the subject of the complaint. The municipal authorities did not want to confirm this information.
