Federal Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer insists on the admission of migrants to European solutions. Earlier, representatives of the Berlin state government reacted with anger that Seehofer refused to authorize its own state admission program for up to 300 refugees.

“No country in the world can manage migration alone,” emphasized Seehofer. “It is all the more important that we finally make visible progress in European asylum policy. We are on the right track and I am not ready to endanger it now. ”It was essential that Europe act together.

In a letter to Berlin’s Senator for the Interior, Andreas Geisel (SPD), Seehofer had written that the requirements for admission under Section 23 of the Residence Act, on which Berlin is based, were not met. At the European level, the admission of up to 1,600 minors from the overcrowded refugee camps on the Greek islands, in which Germany also participates, was to be started. Germany itself, including relatives, wants to accept a total of 928 people from Greece, some of whom have already entered. The migrants still have to go through an asylum procedure here.

The interior readiness of the states of Berlin and Thuringia was taken into account when distributing migrants within Germany, according to the Interior Ministry. Berlin will receive 150 people from Greece in this context.
