The Department of Citizenship and Social Rights today has published a new order authorizing the departure of the elderly who live in one of the 288 residences of Aragon to their relatives’ house for a minimum period of one month and 15 days in the case of people with disabilities.
As explained the managing director of the Aragonese Institute of Social Services (IASS), Joaquín Santos, in a press release, the decision is based on the criterion of “prudence and preserving the health and safety of people.” These people should not have symptoms of covid-19 or have had close contact with people suspected of having the disease.
Health does not have reliable data on deaths from covid-19 in nursing homes
EFEThe department of Salvador Illa indicates that a community has not sent the data even once to the central registry. Some have not done so with the required frequency or do so after the deadline.
“It is a measure that aims to preserve health, put it ahead and be very cautious, given what we have experienced, “says Santos, who assures that these people will keep their place and undergo a coronavirus test on their return to confirm that they are negative and, in case it is necessary, spend ten days of isolation in which they can receive visits.

Only people who test negative in a high-performance serological test. With the entry into force of this rule, the opening to day center users is authorized (who could resume their activity for a couple of weeks) and older homes, which until now were offering, upon request, certain services to their users.
The services, including the dining room, are subject to capacity limits, with usage ranges, respect for an interpersonal distance of two meters, and general measures for the use of a mask, hand hygiene, ventilation and cleaning.
