After having scoured the Belgian and German lawns and having started his coaching career in the training center of the Club of Bruges, Timmy Simons will continue his apprenticeship alongside the “ideal teacher”.
The preparation has just started in Zulte Waregem, but Timmy Simons, who left Bruges during the off-season, already feels like a fish in the water at Essevée. “I’m having fun”, smiles, at the microphone of Sporza, the one who found some known faces in Zulte. “I played with Jelle Vossen and Davy De Fauw and I also know Olivier Deschacht very well.”
But the former captain did not join Essevée just to have fun, he also wants to grow. “My ambition is to become a head coach,” he insists. “And I think this club is the perfect stopover.”
Especially since in addition to becoming an assistant in a club that regularly plays the leading roles in the Pro League, Timmy Simons will learn the tricks of the trade from an experienced coach. “Franky Dury is the perfect teacher. We often talk before and during training. He has a lot of experience, but also leaves a lot of freedom. We learn a lot this way.”
