The use of face masks in Mexico City is mandatory to board a minibus, truck, taxi and any collective transport unit, according to the Ministry of Mobility (Semovi).
Its use was only supervised in the Metro and Metrobús, but Semovi reported that reviews will be carried out in taxis, corridors and road transport.
In a statement, he explained that the information campaign to promote the compulsory use of face masks within the collective transport and taxi units, as well as their correct carrying during the entire transfer of the users.
“During two weeks of work, more than 3,200 flyers have been distributed, delivered by the Institute of Administrative Verification (INVEA) to road and taxi transport operators with basic hygiene measures to avoid contagions,” he reported.
The Semovi will give priority to the red zones that have been detected as having a “high level of spread” of COVID-19.
He announced that he began the placement of self-adhesive materials in visible parts of the units (whose first stage will be 20 thousand) so that users know what is the correct use of the mouthpiece, as well as its mandatory throughout the trip.
During this week, tours, flyer deliveries and placement of self-adhesive informational materials are carried out in at least ten points in the municipalities: Cuauhtémoc, Coyoacán, Milpa Alta, Cuajimalpa, Miguel Hidalgo, Gustavo A. Madero and Xochimilco where the operators will be oriented to avoid saturating the units to ensure a healthy distance between people.
