Munich / Frankfurt. According to a survey, Germans’ travel intentions are increasing again. The top destinations are Bavaria and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
In contrast, 29 percent no longer planned a vacation trip in 2020, as revealed in an online survey published on Tuesday by the Society for Consumer Research (GfK) on behalf of the Bavarian Center for Tourism.
Around a quarter of the more than 2,000 respondents between the ages of 18 and 74 waited. They often mentioned the fear of a corona infection or the expensive preventive measures as arguments against a trip.
The majority of vacationers are drawn to German destinations with Bavaria and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania at the top. 17 percent of all respondents still wanted to go abroad in Europe. Austria, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain were in front here. The preferred means of travel for 80 percent of holidaymakers in Germany and 59 percent of those interested in traveling abroad is the car. Above all, apartments and houses would be booked.
