A 30-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her husband, dyears on the night of Wednesday 12 to Thursday 13 August, in Chevilly-Larue (Val-de-Marne). At around 3:40 a.m., the police intervened for “screaming woman in a street” after several calls from the neighborhood. According to a police source at Franceinfo, witnesses saw the victim jump from her first-floor balcony to escape the beatings of her husband. He came out, caught up with her and dragged her by the hair to their apartment.
When the police arrived, the woman was lying in the living room with signs of strangulation on her neck. Despite the aid intervention, she succumbed to her injuries. In the apartment, their 4 year old son was sleeping. The victim’s husband, aged 29, was arrested without resistance and taken into police custody. The investigation was entrusted to the judicial police of Val-de-Marne.
This new case of alleged feminicide would bring their total number to at least 44 since the start of 2020, according to a count made by AFP. In 2019, according to AFP, at least 126 women were killed by their partner or their ex-spouse. Or a woman every three days.
