Ford does not forget its past.

In 1966, Ford marked the spirits. Thanks to the experience gained in the races of 1964 and 1965, the Shelby team developed a GT40 ready to dominate endurance races: a gamble paid off.

The Ford GT40 won a historic (and controversial) victory over Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, while seizing the 12 Hours of Sebring race a few months earlier. But it all started at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1966, where Ford claimed its first victory in 24 hours of endurance, under the leadership of Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby. Those who watched the film Le Mans 66 know this story well.

To celebrate this victory, the firm with the blue oval offers the Ford GT Heritage Edition. As you can see, this edition pays homage to Ken Miles’ car that won the race at Daytona. It can be seen on the black hood, the red badges, the black bands, and the number 98 inscribed on the doors.

Along with the obvious callback to Miles’ race car, the latest edition comes with several carbon fiber parts, as well as a set of 20-inch “Heritage Gold” forged aluminum rims. It is associated with brake calipers Brembo red lacquered. Ford also offers a set of 20-inch exposed carbon fiber rims. Inside, several fittings in Alcantara populate the seats, dashboard and steering wheel.

In addition to the GT “Heritage Edition”, Ford is also presenting the “Studio Collection” package, which the company announced last month. This all-new aesthetic package features customizable colors, the result of a collaboration between Ford Performance and Ford GT maker Multimatic. You can see the color combinations near the end of the gallery above.

Only 40 Ford GTs can benefit from the “Studio Collection” pack in 2021 and 2022. Ford has not disclosed the number of Ford GT Heritage Editions that will be produced. Finally, be aware that the production of the Ford GT will end in 2022.
