Former Vice President of Football cruise, Itair Machado was hospitalized this Tuesday night at Madre Teresa hospital, in Belo Horizonte. He is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the place, having been diagnosed with coronavirus. The hospital did not give details of his health.
Itair left Cruzeiro in October 2019, at a time when the club was going through a serious financial, administrative and political crisis. At the end of the year, the team ended up being demoted to Serie B of the Brazilian Championship.
He was primarily responsible for the management of Cruzeiro’s football department under the management of President Wagner Pires de Sá, who resigned his post at the end of 2019. At this time, he is the target of an investigation by the Civil Police and the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais on charges such as money laundering and forgery of documents, as well as other officials. During the period in which Itair was in the management of Cruzeiro, the club was twice champion of Minas Gerais in 2018 and 2019, in addition to having won the Copa do Brasil in 2018.
