Premier League champions Liverpool FC announced their first transfer of the summer on Monday. Left-back Kostas Tsimikas arrives from Olympiakos Piraeus. He signed a five-year contract.
Aged 24, he has three caps for his country. He made 86 appearances for Olympiakos, champions this season in Greece.
“I am very happy, I am very proud to be here,” Tsimikas said on the Reds website. “For me, it’s the biggest club in the world. It’s an honor, I will give the best of myself ”.
Tsimikas, who was loaned out for one season in 2017-18 to Willem II, is seen as Scotsman Andy Robertson’s understudy on the left of the Reds defense.
“He’s a very good footballer, with a passion to win. I really like his mentality, ”Klopp said. “It fits perfectly with the mentality and the desire that we have in our locker room”.
