Lionsgate confirmed the production of two more films in the “John Wick” franchise, starring Keanu Reeves.
The actor will play the title killer in “John Wick 4”, previously forwarded, and “John Wick 5”, which was not foreseen. In a conference call on the studio’s quarterly balance sheet, CEO John Feltheimer revealed that the goal of ordering two films is to save on one consecutive shoot in the next year.
“We hope to film both ‘John Wick 4’ and ‘5’ one after the other when Keanu becomes available early next year,” Feltheimer said.
“John Wick 4” is already set to premiere: May 27, 2022. But the fifth film has not yet appeared on the production company’s calendar.
In addition to the two films, Lionsgate develops a series for the paid channel Starz, entitled “The Continental”, about the hotel where John Wick stayed in the first film.
Reeves is currently shooting “Matrix 4” for Warner Bros. in Berlin, Germany.
