A fire ravaged a building housing two homes on Saturday in the Geneva countryside. The firefighters had to deploy great resources to come to terms with the disaster.
A fire broke out on Saturday around 3:15 p.m. in a farm located in Jussy (GE). The firefighters were able to control the fire on this farm consisting of two dwellings.
Significant resources deployed
“So far, we’ve only seen material damage. By 5 p.m., we had deployed ten devices and 24 professional firefighters. They were supported by 40 volunteer firefighters from three different companies, ”said Captain David Mautone of the Fire and Rescue Service.
Only residual fires remain. Other additional resources may be required to supplement the workforce, said the captain.
“The situation was made complex and difficult for the firefighters mobilized because of the weather conditions and the high heat. We needed people to organize the succession and last over time, ”he added.
In parallel with this intervention, the firefighters intervened on Saturday afternoon on two quickly controlled field fires, one in Avully and the other in Onex.
