The Minister for economy, Paulo Guedes, announced the substitutes for the two special secretaries who resigned last Tuesday (11). The portfolio chose to relocate team names to positions.

The Secretary for Infrastructure Development at the Ministry of Economy, Diego Mac Cord, will assume the Special Secretariat for Privatization, Divestment and Markets, in place of Salim Mattar. The current CEO of the Federal Data Processing Service (Serpro), Caio Andrade, will occupy the Special Secretariat for Bureaucratization, Management and Digital Government, replacing Paulo Uebel.

Mechanical engineer by training, Mac Cord specialized in infrastructure investments in a master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University. He holds a doctorate in engineering from the University of São Paulo (USP), where he specializes in regulation of the electrical sector. Before joining the economic team, he was professor and coordinator of the MBA in the electric sector at FGV Management and a leading partner in Government and Infrastructure Regulation at KPMG in Brazil.

An entrepreneur in information technology, real estate and agribusiness, Caio Andrade has a degree in Social Communication from Universidade Paulista, a postgraduate degree in Administration and Management from Harvard University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Duke University. According to the Ministry of Economy, Andrade led more than 20 mergers and acquisitions processes and is the founder and advisor of Instituto Fazer Acontecer, an organization that promotes sports projects for 4,000 children and teenagers in the Bahian hinterland.

The presidency of Serpro will be held by Gileno Barreto, the company’s current Legal and Governance and Management director. Graduated in Law at the Centro Universitário de Brasília (UniCEUB) and postgraduate and master’s degree in International Tax Law, Barreto has an MBA in Business Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas of São Paulo. He was a consultant for large companies, with professional experience of 25 years.

In a note, the ministry reports that Guedes thanks the work of former secretaries Salim Mattar and Paulo Uebel.
