Anti-drug police in Santa Maria, Colombia, seized 1,100 kilograms of cocaine bound for Antwerp on Sunday, UN Container Control Program coordinator Bob Van den Berghe reported on Monday. . The drugs were packed in cases of bananas.
In 2020, local authorities, with the support of the United Nations program, have already seized a total of 54 tonnes of cocaine in the countries and ports of origin. Of these, 32.5 tonnes were destined for Europe and 10 tonnes for Belgium.
In comparison with 2019, seizures have been less frequent this year, but each time the catches have been greater.
