Motorhome catches fire on the highway


Firefighters and police intervened during the night from Saturday to Sunday in the canton of Friborg to put out a vehicle fire.


The driver of the vehicle was able to escape from the passenger compartment.

A motorhome caught fire at around 2:10 am in the night from Saturday to Sunday on the A12 motorway near Châtel-Saint-Denis (FR). The vehicle was completely destroyed by fire, but there were no injuries, said the cantonal police of Friborg.

As the vehicle was traveling from Vevey towards Friborg, smoke started to spread in the passenger compartment. The driver stopped on the emergency lane and was able to exit the vehicle before it caught fire completely. An investigation was opened to determine the causes of the incident.
