The Hulu platform released the poster and the second trailer for “Woke”, a new comedy series starring Lamorne Morris, the “New Girl” Winston. The preview summarizes the story, which is an exaggerated and absurd version of real facts. “Woke” is inspired by the life and art of cartoonist Keith Knight (creator of the comic book “The K Chronicles”) and addresses an absolutely current topic: structural racism.

Created by Knight and Marshall Todd (screenwriter for “A Gang of Noise”), the series features Morris as Keef, an illustrator and cartoonist who lives in San Francisco. Successful, he has a pink vision of the world, until he becomes the target of racist police action. From the moment he feels the pain of prejudice in his own skin, he begins to hallucinate and see his animated characters wherever he goes, beginning to reconsider his worldview and his own art.

The cast also includes comedian T. Murph, former “Saturday Night Live” member Sasheer Zamata and Blake Anderson (from the “Workaholics” series).

The premiere is scheduled for September 9 in the USA and there is still no forecast for its launch in Brazil.

After the success of the Sherlock series with Benedict Cumberbatch, the CBS channel decided to release its own adaptation of the story in a plot called Elementary. The seven-season series, completed in 2019, featured Jonny Lee Miller as the detective and Lucy Liu as Watson! This gender change of Sherlock's inseparable duo generated a lot of criticism of the production, but in the end, the series was well received by critics and the general public.
