Paris Saint-Germain won the Coupe de la Ligue. The Parisians won on penalties against Lyon, in what is the last edition of this competition created in 1995.

This meeting between the last two French teams to still be in contention in the Champions League (Lyon has its second leg of the round of 16 to play against Juventus, while Paris has already qualified for the quarter-finals, against Atalanta Bergamo ) was tasteless.

Without much opportunity during the 120 minutes of play, everything was decided in a penalty shootout where no player missed his attempt. But Keylor Navas stopped Lyon’s sixth try, drawn by Bertrand Traoré, before Pablo Sarabia offered PSG their fourth trophy of the season.

For Lyon, this defeat is not innocent: unless they win the Champions League, the Rhone club will not be in the European Cup next season.
