The images of a camera of film positioned in the Rural Zone of Varginha enabled the Police Military, through rural patrol, to arrest one of the authors of the theft 500 kilos of café pulped, on a farm in the locality of Three Towers, in the south of Minas, as well as the recovery of the bags.
Since last Monday, the attention of the rural patrol are geared towards this theft. At investigations they are part of Operation Safra Segura, which was launched in May and will last until the end of the coffee harvest.
There was not tracks until the police were informed of the existence of a filming of the action of the bandits. The victim, owner of the stolen crop, was taken to watch the video and recognized one of the men, who had been his employee a few months ago. With this man’s identification, he is from Varginha, the police started looking for the man in the places he usually goes.
THE suspect was seen on a street in the Jardim Áurea neighborhood. When he saw the PM’s vehicle, he threw an object, similar to a cigarette, on the floor, and tried to escape. The object was a marijuana. Taken, The man confessed the crime, telling the police that he had had a partner in the action. However, the name and location of his partner in crime were not disclosed.
After that, the suspect took the police where he was merchandise stolen. Nine take out they were in a house in Bairro Jardim Áurea, and three other bags were in another house.
Operation Safra Segura 2020 aims to intensify actions and operations focused on preventing and suppressing theft and theft of coffee and its agricultural inputs in Minas Gerais and, consequently, contributing to the improvement of the feeling of security in the rural environment. Since the beginning of the operation, in May of this year, in addition to repressive actions in rural areas and approaches to cargo transportation vehicles, mainly on side roads, aiming to avoid or intercept the transportation of stolen or stolen products in the rural region, the PM carries out preventive visits to farmers and landowners where coffee is stored, processed and marketed.
During these visits, the military advises the owners, family members and employees on protection measures and ways to activate the Military Police in the event of an offense. Videos with safety tips are also being released by the PM. The operation has the support of the Specialized Policing Command (CPE), the Environment (CPMAmb), Highway Policing and State Aviation (COMAVE), in a coordinated action with the participation of the corporation’s intelligence, fundamental for the identification of places targeted by criminals and the main offenders involved in crimes of this nature and the places with the highest incidence of coffee theft and robbery in the state.
