After a policeman’s speech on one Corona-Demonstration In Augsburg, an official misconduct by the civil servant is being examined. The police have secured video recordings of the demonstration, which are now being viewed and evaluated, said a spokesman for the Central Franconian police headquarters on Monday. During the examination, the officer will no longer be used as a manager or on duty with citizen contact. Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) first reported on the case.

The report states that the officer was internally transferred. The police spokesman did not confirm this when asked. First of all, the evaluation of the performance, in which lawyers are also involved, must be completed before action can be taken.

The policeman took part in the “Festival for Freedom and Peace” in Augsburg (Bavaria) on Saturday, where people against government action protested to contain the corona virus. A Youtube-Video shows how the officer begins the speech with “Attention, attention – this is the police speaking!” and introduces himself to the applauding crowd as the head of the police department.

In the speech, the official accuses politics and the “leading media”, among other things, of spreading fear and horror. Germany has turned into a “state of informers”, which is very depressing to him. The press suppressed essential information – he therefore called it the “gap press”. The officer asked his colleagues to join the protest.

The police union described the incident as unfortunate. “Of course, police officers have the right to freedom of expression, but as a private person,” said Peter Schall, state chairman of the police union.
